WTB Type 3 (Any!)
Major - August 10th, 2010 at 03:02 PM

Good afternoon all,

As the subject suggests I am new to the forum. I have never owned a VW however have a great love for these cars.

Pending the sale of my current car and depending how much money I have left over after I do some work on the new house I am wanting to buy a late model type 3 fastback (if anyone knows of one in Vic let me know).

Is there anything in particular that I need to keep a look out for?

Great forum everyone, keep up the good work.

Cheers Major.

Its a late model ... buy and early car!! Autos can be costly!

Doctor - August 28th, 2010 at 01:15 AM

Nothing wrong with a late model, i prefer them personally, for looks and parts availability....

vlad01 - September 7th, 2010 at 07:56 PM

Me too. I like the way the late ones look :D:tu:

Fastie - September 7th, 2010 at 08:09 PM

A guy on Melburgluft bought this

Major - September 10th, 2010 at 09:26 AM

Decided not to bid as I would prefer a manual. I have a guy interested in my current ride and with some luck will buy it. Then I will be on the hunt for a fastback.

Still if anyone knows of one let me know. I want it as a daily driver, but I don't mind having to do a little bit of work.

naylor_james - September 10th, 2010 at 06:11 PM

if ebaying.....go and see it in person before you purchase!!!!this forum is incredibly valuable to someone just getting into these cars as i am..i wish i had spent a few more weeks browsing this forum before i purchased my car....ask questions the guys on here are more than happy to answer even the strangest and most obvious or difficult questions...check out hte readers rides area and see hwat problems or issues other people have had who have built something similar to what you want....just research before you buy...i didnt and it bit me hard!! but yeah this forum is the perfect place to learn and ask questions!

Major - January 25th, 2012 at 06:59 PM

Thanks for the bump Matt.

As my other thread suggests, I am searching for a fastback (or notch) project. Preferrably a complete car.

Appreciate the leads, Cheers Paul.

Yeah mate. Unfortunately it is well over my budget. By the sounds of it though it is a pretty good buy.

Cheers Paul

thats a nice one not much to do to make it yours, been watching it too

vlad01 - January 27th, 2012 at 12:53 PM

thats cool as hell! original paint?

I would go for that, looks pretty much all original and untampered

Major - January 27th, 2012 at 12:57 PM

I was seriously thinking about it. It is out of my price range unfortunately, I had a chat to the guy who owns it and he was wanting to get around $3k. I personally think it is worth a bit more then that, I would have thought around $4k. It will be interesting to see how it goes!

Major - January 29th, 2012 at 05:15 PM

It ended up going for $2500, pretty good price I would have thought. Alas I wasn't the lucky buyer, so I will keep looking for my project.

dragsters for life - January 29th, 2012 at 09:48 PM

you've gone mad!

Major - February 7th, 2012 at 07:51 AM

Guys, went and had a chat to Rick at Volksrecycle on Saturday. He is a great bloke and a wealth of knowledge. However still didn't find anything except for a nice notch which is still out of my price range for a project :fakesniff:.

So I am increasing my budget and looking for a daily driver, only have $3K though (pity I didn't work this out a few weeks ago when that car was on ebay).

Cheers Paul
