Barnabie - August 14th, 2010 at 09:29 PM

As above, looks like a great buy provided not much cancer lurking beneath that shiny new paint. What are your plans for it?

Gary L - August 15th, 2010 at 05:10 PM

Looks good from the pics type 3's are the new black enjoy price seems fair good luck

naylor_james - August 15th, 2010 at 06:00 PM

planssssssss.....well
i wnat it to be a great little summer car...i want it to be low and im looking round for a nice set of 15 / 16 inch wheels something classy...maybe a nice 5 spoke wheel although wil probably require hub/ stud changes..i intend on doing the interior either tobacco or red leather...making it a bit more modern and comfortable bu defiently keeping it classy..billet steering wheel , pedals, etc etc.... update the sound system a bit probably keep that all hidden though...as far as performance goes to be honest ive always had modern turbo cars so i guess to start i want to make it reliable before i start tinkering...i guess hte look im going for would be hot rod/ street machine but alot smaller....to all that are worried i am going to butcher this car i pleade with you not to worry...i imagine i will need your advice and oppionions throughout the build so you can stop me doing anyhting too crazy!!! i really appreciate your help guys you seem like a great bunch of dudes..so yeah thats the genereal way im heading i guess!!! oh p.s does anyone know if u can buy clear front indicator lenses in aus still i tried ISPWEST in the states and they r out of stock :(

Legends thanks guys!!!

silverra23 - August 17th, 2010 at 12:56 PM

I thought that red square had great potential - inside looks very neat too which is good. Nice purchase

Where abouts are you?

I was trying to get my brother to buy it actually.. .this was my suggestion of how it might look thanks to type 3 selecta

squizy - August 17th, 2010 at 01:09 PM

Leave it OG and just lower it and put some rims on it. If the seats are good under those covers leave them as is. Once you change that lovely OG stuff out, you may regret it later.

naylor_james - August 17th, 2010 at 05:39 PM

hahah awesome that looks awesome...thats def the sort of lok im thinking...no roof racks but....they r cool but not quite me :) maybe for a summer holiday :) hahaha,
Squizzy you make a good point with the interior!! unfortunetly under hte covers....not so good....maybe i should repair the origionals and buy a second set to modify?? my trimmer could up door cards easily enough besides that most stuff would be returnable to stock i guess...are there many type 3 seats floating around??? more food for thought thanks again guys ive never been on a forum quite like this!!! very refreshing!!!
cheers, james

silverra23 - August 17th, 2010 at 05:50 PM

Alright no rack.. different wheels :)

Think I got the colour a bit different this time.. oh well you get the idea :)

I do love playing with the various selecta's can you tell?

looks like converting to wide 5 is gunna be a full ball breaker!!!
maybe just go with the flat 4 4 spoke wheels like in your pic...seems like alot of dicking around....
cheers guys!!! keep the ideas pictures comments etc etc coming !!!!

The wheels with the best offset for a lowered type3 are the 914 2-Litre wheels or the Burners.

naylor_james - August 18th, 2010 at 06:32 PM

would you think the 914 wheels htey sell would be the same offset as the 914 rims classic veedub sell??? they are 35et offset??? ive taken quiite a liking to them

Burrelli - August 18th, 2010 at 07:46 PM

I would think cip 1 914 2-litre wheels are 35mm offset but I'd check before I purchased them. I think all PORSCHE 914-4 5.5inch wheels are 35mm offset and are good for Type3. Remember a standard Type3 wheel is 46mm offset so you must be careful of the offset of an after market wheel for a type3.

vlad01 - August 18th, 2010 at 08:28 PM

I had 6" rims with 25mm? offset and they fit well.

naylor_james - August 19th, 2010 at 10:49 AM

Fantastic thanks guys!!!
