does anyone know if there is an existing airbag suspension kit for a squarebacks in Australia? i know there is nothing in SA and it will cost me a fortune to get one made up. have seen them on youtube but have no idea how to track them down can anyone help?
id speak to an engineer first and find out what requirements you will need for a system as per the laws in your state.
There is guys around that can do it.
Some mob at Oaklands Park (Eastside...?) can do it,but be prepared to spend half a years wages!
Extortionists
Lee is on it, i've done a fair bit of research into this, and no one makes an off the shelf kit in the world to bag a Type 3, its definitely doable, but prepared for a lot of cutting, welding, and money being spent....
ah tried eastside and yes i agree with u there. yeah ithought that would be the case, guess that means adelaide will continue to be a vw on bags free society.
Not neccesarily!
Spoke to a guy I know today, his mate will look into it for you and see if its a doable option for him.
He does it in his spare time and is very quick apparently, and cluey. He does all the rice burner crowd cars. Doesnt charge the earth either.
Only problem is that he is based in Normanville.
Will get back to ya when I hear something end of next week probably.I'm heading away for work
that would be fantastic thanks so much
No probs
The guy says he is ringing around in the states and getting pics and measurements to see if he can do it.
mate if this works out i owe you
Cash is fine bud
I will also accept cash.

hey mate i done heaps of research on air bag suspension for type 3s as im currently in the proccess of doing my
DONT BUY OFF AIR KEWLD
as they run a AIR CYCLINDER up front and is slow as ..
the best way to set it up is
On a TRI- BAG set up
one bag on the front beam
2 bag on the rear + if you have an IRS set up even better you ll get alot more camber in the rear
but yeah all my work is being done by a friend of my who is an engineer by trade.
where are you located?
http://www.mexsgarage.com
he can supply you an all the air gear but if your not in Qld you ll have to find someone closer to you to do the work
You gonna need:
3 air bags
bag plates
New drop spindles
Compressor and air tank, wiring kit + gauges and shit like that..
theirs a fair bit of work invovled
The Rear setup
The front beam:
Shout at a monkey!!
Do you have any pix with the body on? Or how far are you in the project.
Oztype3, that airbag setup is very impressive, especially the way in which you've done the front beam!
yeah well i had spoke to a my mate (the engineer) and i showed him the air kewld kit
and he was against running the cyclinders , so i did some researc and found this setup
works alot more faster and safer..
plus the way it sits out from the beam give plenty of clearance from the fuel tank.
but yeah feel free to take the info an show your engineer or who ever is gonna do the work..
and get dirty
Body is off at the moment and i fly away for work soon so no work will be done until i get back..
mate thats awesum and im glad sum1 else is doing it to u been a big help. did u say ur mate can get the set up for me? how much am very keen? now to find a engineer i guess.

Hey bud
My mate got back to me.HIS mate says its in the too hard basket for him with time and the amount of engineering (I think its a copout, but what can ya
do?)
Sorry I couldnt be of more help.
I'm near Marion at Park Holme.Look out for a lowered red Ghia on the weekends
Cheers
Lee
I think the Ghia Needs bags Lee....
And you CAN'T call yours lowered... What he needs to be on the lookout for, is some old dude who thinks he is cool, driving a 4WD
spec red ghia...
