6 Karmann questions...
isky - October 24th, 2010 at 09:45 PM

hi guys i have a few KG questions i may as well put in one post rather than several...

1. Ill hopefully have my 61 kg on the road soon. I want to use the all red tail light lenses instead of the amber/red ones...any legality issues there?

2. Same with the front indicators...i want to replace the ambers with clear...legality issues? my racq bud told me i had to use an amber bulb if i did that. Didn't know you could get them.

3. is all the glass out of a 60 KG the same as that on a 61? I want to swap the glass over cause its better quality, plus i think ill do a self tint before i replace. Can you remove the glass from the rubber that holds it to the mechanism and reuse? The glass i want to use does not have the rubber.

4. did 61 kg's come with seat belt? I cant see any evidence of mine having any. Definitely no shoulder strap bolt but there are 2 holes on the pan on either side of the seat. Like a lap belt perhaps?

5. is having reverse lights on a 61 a requirement to getting your car road worthied?

6. Why are mangos so expensive this year!? $4.50! your kiddin....

hi isky, apparently u need to have the aust rear lenses, but u can always put the other on and if the roadworthy guy passes it u r away. my friend has the front clear with the amber bulb and has had no probs. the glass is the same.u mean reuse the rubber if its in good shape. only lap belts in my 62. reverse lights, i dont thin mine has reverse lights,if it came out without them then its no probs. we gettin nice mangos for 1.50 on gold coast

If the car didn't have factory reverse lights then its not a requirement for RWC, least not in NSW anyway

My 71 Sbug was the last of the non reverse light models, had no probs getting a bluey.

Same with the front indicators, they had clear lenses with clear bulbs originally, ofcourse it's common sense to chuck in some amber bulbs

You can use the all red tail lamps
and use the exta ones for extra stop lights
and add a couple of hella reverse lamps with amber bulbs..

amber bulbs are just ordinary bulbs coated with clear amber paint as used on models... model paint...
