What model beetle Rob???
the early 62-67 beetles had the towel rail bumpers and the spotlights clamped around the top round towel rail..
late models ... I always just drill a hole in My bumper...
BUT
this time I picked up some front bumper brackets for spares and they both had a piece welded on top of the bumper bracket and a hole drilled in
it...
so, I mounted driving lights in them...
BUT .. I still drilled holes for fog lamps.... lol
Just thinking.... a steel bar between the two brackets could of had 4 holes drilled in them and all the lights in the bar...
If You have holes in Your bumper its easy to cover them up with chromed cuphead bumper bolts later..
I have also seen a flat piece of steel going vertical along the bumper bracket then bent over at the top for the light to be mounted to..
then another flat piece of steel slightly shorter than the first
it goes below the bumper bracket and bolts to the first piece
of steel.. and another bolt on the top of the bracket....
I hope You can understand this... below...
If You have access to a welder or someone who can do it for You...
a piece of steel from the top of one bumper bracket to the next.... right angle steel is best as its stronger...
cheers
