I assume that he means the electric fan unit from a late type 3? I don't think they were connected to the heater though, weren't they just for fresh
air?

Hi
I think the type 3 variant I had many years ago had a fan to blow fresh air...
they had round nozzles in the dash for the fresh air...
the VW heater doesn't need a fan...
its blown from the engine....
remember nothing is impossible...
just a darn sight harder...
You may need more behind the dash plastic hose connections.
I don't know if they can be fitted easily...

My 71 has an 'Ambulance Fan' as fitted at the factory, it definately blows cold air up to the screen and through the dash, haven't got the heating
working yet so can't confirm if it assists the warm air generated by the engine but it's definately not a stand alone heater.

The fans will blow fresh air or warm air from your engine which works fine in winter but a rubber mat put on your windscreen will keep the frost off!
