Rear wheel arch measurements
gaz58t2 - June 25th, 2011 at 12:16 PM

Hi
Am currently removing the flared wheel arches from my 1960 KG and returning it to the original arches
Problem being i do not know what hight the original arch was at:!:
Was wondering could anyone please get me a measurement from the ridge above the rear arch to the top of the arch and from the inner arch to the outer edge of the top of the arch
Would be greatly appreciated
Thanks Gaz

I'm doing all four wheel arches on my KG atm also. We're using the rust panels from 'cip'. Luckily my body mate has his own KG plus my parts KG to use for measurement references as well :) Good luck!

if we got to rebuild using those pics, u might end up with a mini. best i can do is from top of rear guard down to top of opening of rear guard is .325 [this measurement is taken vertically in line with centre of the wheel] other measurement from the crease in the body that follows the shape of the guard to the centre of the guard at the top opening of the guard is .630. this is a horizontal measurement. both measurements the vertical and horizontal are talken from the same spot in the middle of the opening of the guard at the top. the inner guard i dont know where u mean, inside the guard is the spring plate, flat and curved sections so unless u can do abetter job of drawing or explaning ...............

So thats 325mm down and 630mm across
Will have a check in the morrow
Not sure about the Mini reference :!:
Hope these measurements aint from one:no:

ok i think i got the last one its .310 from outside of rear guard to the inner arch. measurement taken from the centre of the guard directly above the centre of the rear wheel. bear in mind the guard changes angle as it goes toward the back of the car.so teh measurement is differrent in different places in relation to the rear inner. ps all measurements from my 62 kghia

Hey Grogy
just wondering on that first measurement of .325
Have tacked every thing in and the closest i can to that measurment is 275 mm and it all seems to look ok ,judging from pics i found on the net
Any chance you got that one wrong ?
All others are spot on
Cheers Gaz

325, i jus measured it again. its a vertical measurement from top of guard on the outside of car, down to the opening of the guard above the wheel, directly inline with the centre of the wheel. i used builders metal tape following the curve of the guard from top to opening .so i lay a piece of paper on the guard so i dont scratch my car, then bend the tape to follow the shape of the guard from top to opening above the wheel.

mine is a 62, maybe later ones are slightly diff. but mine has never been crashed or modified

gaz58t2 - July 5th, 2011 at 09:51 PM

Cheers that explains it
Mines a 61 i measured straight down not on the curve
Will remeasure in the morning
but as i have fully welded it in now so it is what it is
Sorry for being a pain
Cheers Gaz
