My Ghia's new home!
blue vizion - November 30th, 2011 at 09:12 PM

After about 7 years under a carport my Ghia has finally got a proper home! I'm looking forward to fitting it out so I can work on the car without being eaten by mosquitoes!

I just need to get the drive way low-car friendly.

A photo the inside.

ah cool. how much did that set u back?

blue vizion - November 30th, 2011 at 09:47 PM

All up not much under $20K. There was a fair bit of prep work and I have had an extra 6m x 6m slab poured at the back for a roof only section. I'm very happy with the result. There is a list of things I have been wanting to do the car and now have a good space to work in. Before this all I had was a 6m x 3m garden shed to store all my stuff in. Not good!

I recon he did, some thing like that would cost twice or more otherwise.

My uncle got quoted 18k for a 6x8? shed extension with no concrete, doors, window or gutters.

he did the whole thing including everything for 4500 buks and the most expensive part was a custom gutter @ $600

and guess what? his shed turned out better than any contracted shed building work I have seen

vassy66T1 - December 6th, 2011 at 06:53 AM

Nice shed design, simple but effective. :tu::tu:

vwsteve - December 6th, 2011 at 08:56 AM

looks like some room for another one there:cool:

OZ Towdster - December 6th, 2011 at 09:38 AM

Nice height too , would be close to fitting a hoist in there

h - December 7th, 2011 at 07:31 AM

so.. did you DIY? or had a crew in?
when is the christening bbq n beers ;)

matberry - December 7th, 2011 at 07:49 AM

Yeah John.....whens the shed party.......:?:

blue vizion - December 8th, 2011 at 06:59 AM

Not a DIY. All I did was design it. A local mob who are happy to take on custom designs built it. Yes there is probably room for a hoist however I'm going with a mezzanine. There is a 6m x 6m slab at the back which I will construct a roof only section on to do any dusty work. The aim is to keep the shed dust and clutter free! Room for another project - never say never!?

blue vizion - December 8th, 2011 at 07:04 AM

As for the cost I had quotes that ranged from $20k to $40k!

vassy66T1 - December 8th, 2011 at 08:12 AM

$20K is good value for that.

isky - December 19th, 2011 at 08:11 PM

really awesome! and I've seen your car before in random online pics... it's one of my faves :]

lou0060 - December 30th, 2011 at 08:57 PM

hi John, yep nice shed, agree with all above comments, hoist, dust free, no clutter, (yea I bet!!) mezz floor, and shed warming party!!! Count me in, my Ghia needs a good run.

And don't forget the big VW sign next to the light.....

Paulc1964au - December 31st, 2011 at 09:16 AM

vw54 - January 13th, 2012 at 03:12 PM

When do the shelfs arrive for all the rare spares

So who have you consigned for the NEW project ???

Doug Sweetman - January 13th, 2012 at 04:32 PM

matberry - January 14th, 2012 at 12:13 AM

WE WANT MORE :)

blue vizion - January 14th, 2012 at 05:30 PM

Dave, i built it high enough so that Mona has room to swing from the pole in the centre and the shelves are under construction!

Sure I'm in anytime Mike, but you know it takes more than polish to fit a big donk.

Do you think he'd like the 3.0 liter FAT.....we may need to trim some rear sheet metal.....oh......and cut some holes for the sump and ...................not sure about our chances!!!!!:crazy:

blue vizion - January 16th, 2012 at 06:53 AM

U blokes r fn funny!

I'm changing the drums to disks so I can safely stop the so called '1600' that you built MW!! If There was MB motor in the back I would be needing to change the jocks regularly as well!!

vw54 - January 16th, 2012 at 07:59 AM
