Piston Rings 1600 twin port (part number)
Pfeffernuss - July 29th, 2012 at 09:28 PM

Hello,

I'm rebuilding my 1600 twin port 71 engine. Engine prefix 'T'. I have a stock 1600. The cyl barrels are honed to the stock size, according to the Haynes manual.

Having measured the gap with the piston within the cyl barrel, it appears that i have worn rings. And seeing that I have come this far, may as well replace them.

I am struggling to find the correct part number for the rings.
Should I get genuine, or aftermarket?

Can you recommend any Australian suppliers?

Thanks!!

Call Mick motors - piston and barrel kit includes everything for $200

You might want to check the condition of bearings etc too

Hi,
Managed to source a set. genuine 85.5 piston rings.
thanks to Rod Penrose's contacts

i'm not gonna split the crank case this time - just see how we go.

i have 3 1600 engines now, so i can slipt the crankcase on one of the other ones and get it schmick while i run around with the other engine.
