I have heard that it is very hard to get Karmann ghia wiper assy
Is it possible that a type 3 wiper assy will do the job?
Have an old buggy with KG windscreen and am looking at options for windsreen wipers.
Are beetle wiper assy's another option ??
Hi,
You might get lucky and find a Karmann Ghia Wipper Assy locally but you may have to pay a bit for it. Otherwise you can get them from the states, but
once you have bought it and if it does not fit you might be in trouble.
My Karmann Ghia spindles are 490mm apart and then I am using 68 - 69 Beetle wiper arms and blades.
Just because it is a Karmann Ghia windscreen does not mean you need a Karmann Ghia Wiper Assy, the buggy may have been using something else.
Suggest you check the distance between the wiper spindles on the buggy and get something to fit. Otherwise get a type 3 wiper assy and see if you can
make it fit the buggy (they are easier to come by and convert to 12volts, I propably have one), then just a matter of getting wiper arms and blades
that will give a good even swipe of your windscreen.

Thanks for the info Dave. I actually met the guy ,at the weekend ,who manufactured my buggy body and he seems to think they used the standard beetle
set up.
So your idea of checking the spindle spacings is a very good idea. I may even be able to get a later model ,small car assembly that would be
compatible and have variable speeds

Hi Graham,
All post 68 Beetles and Type 3's were dual speed, but differed between years in motor shape and size as well as spindle width, mounting position and
type of switch.
Welcome to buggy world!!!

David
Thanks David
Now you've got me thinking. It's going to be a long winding road to negotiate to get the buggy up to speed but I'm sure it will be fun
It's mainly a matter of checking dimensions and working within them
