Koo1 is for sale .
Not by me .
Might be of interest to someone with a deep wallet.
Cheers
Steffen
Got any pics available? Where is it advertised?
Is anyone's wallet $50K deep.?
It is listed on Gumtree , oh, and by the way its still in project status as it dont appear to have a final coat of paint only undercoat/primer and has
a Type 1 mufflers hanging out the rear end.
Dont know if there is anything else that does not match with original.
So roll up, roll up and feast your eyes but be sure you have a very, very. very friendly bank manager if you are at all interested.

KO 001. Is this the first country buggy off the production line? Theres a dispute brewing on another forum, with one guy stating he has 2 other CB's
numbered KO 001, and he knows of another 2 with KO 001. I'm calling "story teller" but on the other hand?? i'm confused!
heres the link to the add

and a picture of the beast!
Is that a speaker grill on the dash?
Joh is right about the real CB story from the factory being sketchy. I have never been abe to find the CB Guru from Clayton so I have cobbled together
information as best I could over the past 15 years.
This WA vehicle with KO001 has Chassis # 118315001 and Engine # F1253002.
There is no recorded CB with a chassis # prior to this one as this is the starting block of numbers allocated by Wolfsburg for all CB chassis. As the
CB chassis was pressed separately to the Beetle pans and as it does not have a Heat Control know outlet and the CBs had their own production line the
possibility of a Beetle pan being used appears impossible.
The engine number in the WA vehicle is the lowest number of all recorded CBs but I do no know what happened to F1253001. Again with the lowest engine
number is supports this is KO001.
I dont know anything about these other supposed KO001's but I would guess that if we were able to verify chassis and engine number we might
understand things better.
I was told by the Production Spervisor that the majority of CBs were assembled using whatever the next available pan or chassis was stored closest to
the production line. There was no marrying up of numbers and after the first few cars were built it would have been impossible.
If you look at the Register you can see the chassis and engine numbers are all over the place which reinforces the comments that the production
supervisor made.
I would like any more detail on the other KO001's that are out there including chassis numbers and original engine numbers .

Is there a CB in the Wolfsberg museum? what number is that one? engine number??
great info there Bill, many thanks for sorting that one out! (aren't you the CB guru?)
i don't know if any one has noticed its not actually KO 001, but K 0001, a typo from the factory? when did the "0" move?
From the pictures it appears to be original except for the exhaust and the engine lid, unless it was redesigned at the later date..I can not see air exit from the air box and I see no possibility of replacing perished drain tubes..
Jon,
There is no CB on display at either the VW Shiftung Museum or at the Ziethaus, part ot the Autostadt.
I have been going to the museum for over 20 years and every time am told there is no CB amongst the display or backup vehicles.
If my original source was correct there were two CB prototypes sent over to Wolfsburg for evaluation . The testing was done but the cars were never
returned to Australia. Being prototypes that were not part of the CB production line( it had not been approved or assembled) so they would not have
been given engine or chassis numbers that would have been part of the block of numbers approved by Wolfsburg some months later. I have seen the
chassis number on one of the prototypes and it is from a Beetle sequence of numbers..
I see your point be the stamping of the KO number. I cannot offer any comment here except to say as it would have been the first one stamped maybe
there was a screw up. The factory had never created a special stamping sequence for the production line for anything except the CB as I understand it.
I think the term "KO" comes from "kreation order" being the number applied to the RHD vehicles as they moved along the production line. I dont
know why the LHD units do not appear to have been given a KO number ( apart from KO 854)

Hey john
Why are you using my avatar photo as yours?
Its a bit strange dont you think.
I mean i guess i should feel honoured????
Glitsch in the matrix maybe.
Hi everyone, if they can get 50k for an unrestored CB that can only be good for values, bet there must be a few people choking on their weeties when they see the price! Good luck to the owner if they can find the right person. Cheers John.
Air cleaner mount on the left hand side is different. You could have twin air cleaners and a Tee piece on top of the carby. Double the trouble. I
wonder if it was produced with two?
Someone spent a lot of time ruining the dash. Or perhaps there was an incident with a shot gun eh?
What makes the engine cover not real John? It all looks normal. I think it’s just at the perfect angle where you can’t see the rear section.
The oddest thing is that it’s the straightest one I’ve ever seen, or did you make him a new one John? I notice yours is pretty straight too.
It doesn’t matter, because it won’t be mine. Good to see it though.
Having another look at it, you're right, the end of the airbox is just out of view, that confused me...it is straight OK...I've just finished one in stainless...probably too much time on my hands...

No it was on vwjons post
But never mind the internet and its amazing ways....;-)
Back to topic.
So whats the likely hood of more than one cb carrying the number KO 001???
My post had your avitar? how bizarre!!
i recon the likely hood of 2 cars having the same KO number is about the same as 2 cars having the same vin number. its pretty remote.
