Removing tinware

Hi all,
I need to tighten up the RHS head bolts on my engine in the Country Buggy and I can get to the ones under the rocker cover, but the top bolts are
under all the tinware.
Can this tinware be removed while the engine is in or do I have to drop the engine to be able to remove the tinware and then tighten the top head
bolts?
Also what is involved in dropping the engine?
This is my first VW so I’m new to all the mechanics.

Hi
Its usually only the lower ones that come loose as they are well lubricated.

it would be quicker to remove the engine than try and pull the tinware off while its in the car
yeah as per Steve above the top nuts are usually rusted on tight and dont moove

Can you let me know what is involved with removing the engine from a Country Buggy. As I said I haven't had much to do with vw's before, but I'm
told it's quite an easy job, so any info would be helpful.
What do I need to undo and remove, to drop the engine. There's no need to remove the gearbox is there?

if thats so then you shouldnt be tightening the head studs up i susgest that you find a good VW shop to do the job its not that easy
someone has given u a bum steer
much easier to rremove the engine as you dont have enough height in the engiine area to remove the fan and generator assy and also the inlet mainifold
and carby etc etc etc
