decked dubby,
Looks like your CB is in pretty fair overall condition although missing some bits and pieces like the rare steering wheel and the motor.
It appears you have a good starting point for a restoration.
Good to hear you are committed to saving another example of this rare breed.
Please keep us all informed.......we love pics of the projects, too!
Regards,
Steve

Yeah it's going to look great when it's chopped and slammed. Nothing like reduction hub lift from a 1916. :tu:

58camper - March 5th, 2008 at 09:20 PM

Great to see another get back on the road, irrespective of the form it might take.
Keep the Ute top, they are few are far between.

What is the go with you people down there. It seems you are starting with buggies that are better than our finished ones.

Anyhows before you take to the bumpers with the axe, can you post some measurements (assuming they are original)

Will be interesting to see it progress

looks like you had a real bad accident damo

ztnoo - March 6th, 2008 at 11:35 PM

decked dubby,

I'm just a thick headed, dazed and confused Yank, so please forgive my stupidity about whom is whom and who is doing what.
Even given the density between my ears I think I have figured a connection out....or are at least reasonably close in my assumptions.
I have drawn the conclusion from far across the Big Pond that you are Damo and you own Monster Garage. Is that correct?

If that is so, your place of business has to be the ONLY place in the known world that is simutaneously restoring TWO CB's!!!!! The other one I'm referring to is Craig Torren's CB.
Can this be true???

Craig talks about his KO 360 in the AVD thread and comments you are doing the bodywork on his CB. http://forums.aussieveedubbers.com/viewtopic.php?tid=67085
He even supplied those who lust after these vehicles a pic of his in front of the business.

http://forums.aussieveedubbers.com/viewtopic.php?action=attachment&tid=67...

By my count the world is aware of four current CB restorations which are occurring at the same time and being reported on here at the AVD CB forum!
Craig's, cb john's, BrisDubba's, and now yours!!!
So if my research is right, that's three being done in the Brisbane area and cb john's in the Sydney area.

I'm really glad I discovered this epicenter of CB information and discussion. What a super resource!!!
Keep the update and pictures coming our way via the forum.
Thanks.

Regards,
Steve

Craig Torrens - March 7th, 2008 at 09:15 AM

3 in Sydney (Damo's,mine and cbjohns)............and 1 in Brisbane.(brisdubba)

Yes Damo is the owner of MONSTER GARAGE.....................and the one he is rebuilding is my old Country buggy that had the 1916 in it. http://forums.aussieveedubbers.com/viewtopic.php?tid=53498&page=1#pid502659

ztnoo - March 7th, 2008 at 09:57 PM

Craig,
Uh......duh.....I guess if I had researched a bit further I might have been a little more accurate.
It's bit like having all the parts on the shop bench, but assembling them in the wrong order.
I know the vehicle count in these CB projects, I know who the owner/restorers are, and I know the cities the work is being done in, I just got the equation inverted.
:spin::dork::smilegrin:
Another factor besides my incomplete research and inability to connect all the dots may be the distances involved and my inability to see over the curvature of the earth.

- Distance between Sydney, Australia and Indianapolis, Indiana, United States, as the crow flies: 9288 miles (14947 km) (8071 nautical miles)
- Distance between Brisbane, Australia and Indianapolis, Indiana, United States, as the crow flies: 8984 miles (14458 km) (7807 nautical miles)

Thanks for the correction and the clarification.
One more thing....Damo's shop is the only place in the world with TWO CB restorations going on at the same time, right???

Regards,
Steve

VWCOOL,
Hey that's good to know.
I certainly didn't intend to exclude anyone.....I just wasn't up to speed on your project.
Great to have you in the restoration count!
I have to really tip my hat to the Aussie enthusiasm to restore this wonderful and rare VW model.
They are scare as hens teeth and those that are salvageable need to be preserved.
Looks like you are doing your part in that effort.
How about some pics?
Regards,
Steve

ztnoo - March 9th, 2008 at 10:39 PM

Damo,
Wow, you're not wasting any time on your CB!
:tu:
How does it feel to have two CB's in the shop at the same time?
I can't imagine there have ever been two CB restorations going on at the same time in the same location.
How's Craig's buggy coming along?

Regards,
Steve

BrisDubba - March 14th, 2008 at 10:50 PM

Damo,

Looking good, here I was thinking you didnt have much to do to it... guess it is apt it is in the disabled carpark

When people come into the shed generally they ask if I made the buggy myself- but I dont think they are being complementary.

ztnoo - March 15th, 2008 at 02:50 AM

Damo,
I've never seen a CB pic that shows one stripped so bare.
You are really leaving no stone unturned, it would appear.
Great pics and visual documentation.
I'm sure others beside myself thrist for more and would like very much to be privy to watching your progress.

Peter,
I had almost the same thought about where Damo's CB is being disassembled.
I can't help but smile given the goods are sitting over a handicapped parking lot logo.
Merely a temporary situation, I'm sure......both for the CB as well as the parking spot.

whatnow - April 11th, 2008 at 09:01 PM

sorry to hijack... ztnoo there is another CB not listed here being restored in sydney, not mine unfortunately.

ztnoo - April 11th, 2008 at 09:28 PM

whatnow,
Thanks for the info.
All of us here like details and pics, so anything you can provide would be enjoyed, I'm sure.
Also I imagine Bill Moore would like to be able to check this one against The Register.......owner, KO, engine #, etc.

Regards,
Steve

BenettonVW - June 15th, 2008 at 09:41 PM

Damo, looking good man. I am tempted by all this CB stuff, but you and I seem to have similar tastes, so by the time I move my ass you will have finished the ideal project, so it might be cheaper for me to watch yours!

Cheers mate, Jim.

Craig Torrens - July 6th, 2008 at 10:56 PM

C'mon Damo, you put the 58 on the road in less than a month, time for the CB to progress !!
