Just wanted to give a shout out to Steve at Das Resto and believe it or not, Australia Post.
Now we all know that just because we have an early 1968 (or whatever) VW that the parts used by the factory may be different to the parts used on someone else's VW of the same year (whatever is in the parts bin at assembly time so to speak)

When I phoned Steve to say the tie rod he sent for my Beetle was too long (although labelled by the manufacturer as suiting a 1968), he measured others he had on the shelf until he came up with a tie rod close in length to my original one. I mailed back the long one on Monday at the budget Aust Post rate (Vic to Qld) and Steve couriered the new part back, received today. He even refunded the $12.70 post!.
