Thanks. Rebuilding the carbies soon as I clear a bench in the shed. The wife won't let me do it on the kitchen table. :(

Hi. Great looker. What colours? Do you know which beige and the interior? I know it is red and assume it is not brick red.
Thanks.

Would you let her cook in the shed?

Very cool looking rig. Is the colour savanah beige?

Yes there's a sticker in the wheel well that says Savannah Beige CLR.804

I don't know how to tell what kind of red the interior is unfortunately

I had some grand plans for this, but after almost a year I've made diddly progress. I'm not giving it away, come and have a look and make me an offer. See Carsales /Gumtree for ballpark figures. 0405404830

I replaced the fuel lines, fuel pump and distributor this morning. Then tried to start it.

When I crank it, i'm getting pops out of both carbies but it just doesn't want to run.

I lined up the rotor button with no.1 cyl when the timing mark is visible in the hole. I triple checked the plug cables 1-4-3-2 going round.

Any ideas?

Rookie error. Distributor was 180deg out. Just had to rotate the leads. Purrs like a kitten and idles fine 😁 After 17 years 😂

'69, the best model year for Type 3,IMO. 12 volt, 4 stud wheels, early bumpers and lights and external fuel cap. Wiper arms are a one off year, splined shaft but mount in the same holes as early models. Try and find some matching hi back front seats (2 track) .

bus914 - September 2nd, 2018 at 03:26 PM

I have a passengers high back. Finding a match for it is proving difficult.

The fuel system is hooked up properly now so I took it for a drive... to the clothesline and back, 3 times. FWD and REV gears work. Yay!

Here it is idling with everything back in place: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XP4EZqdhAlA
