Headlights?
KalgoorlieGreg - April 17th, 2017 at 12:03 PM

Hey all, will the head lights from a 66 Country Buggy fit a 66 Beetle? They are 6 volt lights, will they work with 12 volt globes? These appear to be sloped units but want to make sure.

Cheers, Greg.

Yes, but what has happened to the rest of the Country Buggy?

Are the rims black instead of chrome ?

Yes Greg,
the 12volt headlamp bulbs are fairly rare beasts these days... but are available.

I'll be upgrading to LED'S, but at least I have a pair of upright headlights I can sell now!

Can't be any worse than lifted fourbies with HID's.

Well, a BIG problem over here is the 100/90 watt or higher VERY bright Blue headlamp bulbs which all auto shops and 4WD shops sell and are illegal, and seem to be fitted to many 4WD's. add that to a bit of weight or chassis lift etc and You have very bright headlamps [on LOW beam]..

The legal LED headlamps are dangerous as when a vehicle goes over a bump in the road the lights shine in Your eyes or into Your rear vision mirror and into Your eyes...

I got pulled over about 8 years ago locally, by the Police who were checking the headlamp bulbs... Highway Patrol was actually checking the light from the headlamps... Colour or brightness??? not sure...
Local Police thought Mine were BAD [colour] but were dismissed by the Highway Patrol officer...

That seems to be a big problem in the UK... Fitting of HID headlamps.
I've been told they are illegal in NSW unless they came on the car...

OEM HID headlamps have motors that keep them level, so it doesn't seem like a DIY job...
