Starting problem
VWBoothy - April 25th, 2017 at 11:05 AM

Hey all. I got a quick question with my bug. When the pulley is at tdc it wont turn over at all, but if i rotate it 90 degrees or more it will turn over. Also the motor is alot easier to turn by hand at tdc, but harder when you turn it 90 degrees or more. To me it sounds like maybe the flywheel or maybe something internal on the motor. Do you have any idea what it could be? It has a brand new starter motor in it. New plugs belt and pulley. Any help would be appreciated.

VW engines are always easier to rock at TDC. All pistons are either up or down. Very little piston movement, lots of leverage. No issue..

Was it the correct starter motor??

The teeth wouldn't have been missing when it was started last????
