What's involved in swapping a 68/69 IRS semi-auto transmission/pan to a manual transmission (say a kombi trans)?

this conversion has ben done lots of times but not sure with Kombi gearbox. From memory the Kombi box is longer and you will require lots more chopping of the chassis

where are you located might be good to go to your local VW shop and ask for some advice

Some of the pans had a clutch tube and some didn't, if not that is something you will need to look into. There is a how to online somewhere that I have seen or you could go to a hydraulic clutch. Also need to change the shifter/shift plate and I think the shift rods where different but can't remember how.

Certainly stay away from the Kombi box (not worth the hassle) and go with an L Bug box (better ratios) and can be beefed up if running a very big motor.
