Type 3 Crankshaft Pulley Gasket

I am putting my T3 fan together. What is the function of the gasket between the pulley and the fan? I am finding hard to get one so figure I may cut
one myself. Anyone have any idea of the thickness of the paper gasket?

They are not that thick, about the same as a sheet of A4 paper.
Oil can travel down the keyway on the main fan and get out between the pulley and the fan. It happened to me when I forgot to put one in.
