Accelerator Cable Tube Through Doghouse Fan Housing Question
hulbyw - December 16th, 2018 at 08:06 PM

Question for engine builders please. Where the accelerator cable tube exits the front of the fan housing it passes through a slot.

The rubber seals that are sold for this position come in pairs. The slot is not long enough to fit both seals.

Can anyone explain how this should be assembled and do you fit 1 or 2 seals.

Cheers............Wayne

the seal looks like a short piece of tube with slot all the way around, one seal fits in the fan housing the other in front breast plate. I usually weld a tag to the tube and bolt the tag to the fan housing near the carb or linkage

Thanks Steve however I think you are referring to the grommet at the carb side of the fan housing whereas my question relates to the doghouse side of the housing. There are 2 seals in the kit and I am unsure whether to use both (and if so how) or just one. The slot at the rear of the fan housing is too long for one seal and not long enough for 2 so I am confused

Sorry I misread your post, I think you only use one

They sell them in pairs. Perhaps you cut one to suit?

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately the Samba draws no conclusions either in that post as to why the suppliers sell the grommet in pairs, as 2 don't fit in the rear doghouse slot. Maybe 1 goes in the slot in the back of the fan housing and 1 in the back of the doghouse? Guess I will figure it out when I bolt it all together and line up the accelerator tube which has to pass through 1 hole and 2 slots in the fan housing and 1 hole in the breast plate
