Is this my finest hour?
It all started when I was trying to find top dead centre with a ball point pen inserted into cylinder no. 1. On rotating the engine clockwise the pen
went up and also went 'crunch'. On careful removal of the pen I found that the screw on end was missing and I have since spotted it in the
cylinder.
I have tried to grab, stick and coax it out but to no avail. I have also tried to flood it out with petrol, no good.
The motor turns with difficulty.
Does anybodfy have a good idea how to resolve this issue? Can I dissolve the plastic or perhaps just turn the engine over or do have to take engine
out and head off?:cry
If its all plastic and its not a POBJOY motor ide kick it over and hope for the best but if it turns into a grenade i take no responsibility WHATSOEVER ,this helps a lot im sure :P
Small flexible plastic tube taped onto a vacuum cleaner.
I would say pull the engine and take the head off, otherwise it could end up costing a lot wore $$$.
Hmmm, a good range above.
If the plastic peice is behind a valve then calamity could follow.
I think I am going to pretend that I needed to do a valve job anyway.:birthday
three armed claw pick up tool: $3.95
starting the engine, ramming half a pen through a valve and snapping the stem: priceless
I like the idea of the tube and vacuum cleaner, otherwise go to a hardware store and get the pickup tool, looks like a olive picker upper
good luck, worst case is after a couple hours of swearing and making your neck sore you'll take off the head :thumb
shish kebob skewer and a wad of blu-tac should do it.
or run the risk and crank it without the spark plug in there and hope for the best, but i'd try something sticky like blu tac on a stick.
You could try blowing it out with compressed air. It might fly about n come out the plug hole with a bit of luck.
Problem solved!
Tried to get it out with a specially made torch and a skewer. Got it all the way to the top but the plastic bit was by then flat and expanded and so
it would not come out.
I then proceeded to plan B and turned the motor over and after a splutter it was all systems go, I suppose it is all vapour now.

*shudder*

Plan B thats me :thumb
HAH!
