hmmm...think i picked myself up a 78 crank today......my wife is going to KILL me. I haven't got her Kombi going yet (you reading this Richard :P )

Anyway this is going to ba a Christmas project.......going to get myself some new P&C's while i am at it. Might even go to 94's

Who has one of these in. As you can see, i have a 74L 1303.
How much wider is this going to be?
What about tin - will it have to be cut to fit it in?
What about clearancing the case?
Can you do it yourself?

Funds are still limited so i will be running 040's but i have a spare set. How much to get bigger valves put in??

Got some research to do i think.......

I tell you what, if it was for a t4, i'm sure Rich would finished that kombi engine, but it would have went in the 1303 LoL ;o)

we pulled the motor for a quick look / see.
Nah....CB power torque cam...heads off to Head Jobs Unlimited (LOVE that name :P ).......tin off to get powder coated....rings......man that case came up sweet after the clean. I think i will get a clear lid for the van so i can see that baby!
Thats the problem though....i have not got my wifes Kombi going and i already have a new project for myself

Awesome, but I tell you , you are a braver man than I. I would have had to fix the wife's Kombi before any "fun". Mind you I like the Kombi too.

how is your rebuid going. Is it in and running?

If you use a 78mm crank and use the "B" pistons (with the gudgeon pin positioned 5mm further up) the engine is standard width, no worries with tin ware mods.

The case clearancing can be done by hand, with a die grinder, It takes time but if your good, you can just remove the minimum amount. Or a machine shop can mill it for you, but they always seem to take out heaps!

78mm cranks are a nice size, you can use standard length rods, with the 90.5s, it gives you 2007cc and with the 94s you get 2160cc (I think)

Depending on what cam you use, std valves can work very well for a strong pulling daily driver.

94's and 78 will give 2165cc, but who's counting :thumb

Looks like some fun ahead blue. That long stroke will give some torque.

Dave, sell Barry the case you bought from me at Bulli in Feb, I had already clearanced it for a 78mm crank. I also used 90.5mm pistons for 2007cc, and it was a terrific motor. I hope it's my 78mm crank that Barry is buying.

I am rebuilding my Drag Engine. using your case, the Okrasa 78.4 crank a new larger cam, ratios and some rather large ported Street Eliminators. yee haa
