Con - September 2nd, 2002 at 11:08 PM

hello....

Just wondering if anybody knows of a 12 volt heater that i can put into an L bug.... either that or even just a 12 volt heater element that i can put near the air blower in the dash.... (im not sure if these things exist or if it can be done, thats why im asking....) also, i know it doesnt get all that cold here, but im just looking at my options.

thanks

Con

Con, this has been discussed before, but possibly on the 'old' forum.

I think what came out of it basically was that it can be done, and has been done. There are heaters available for the purpose, but a 12V hair drier does the same thing.

Basically though, they are a huge strain on your electrical system and (I believe) that you are better off by far to repair/refit the stock heating system if at all possible. :)

Put a flange kit on your exhaust and all your problems go away

yeah the stock generator only produces about 30Amps of current at 12v which is 360 watts... i just looked at my hairdryer and it read 1500 watts...

the stock heater system is very effective, even with donut seals, although they can be pesky at times.
