Ive tried several different degreasers septone water based and others but not getting good results.
this is to remove oil and crap of engines and gearboxes I find even after a few spray ons and brushing and hosing some of it is still there
which is an aggressive degreaser

Hi
I like the Export brand and Yukoff. Dont use Kitten it took the cad plating off some of my motor parts.

wax & grease remover is good as well, its petrol based though so dont breathe it in or you will feel funny dont ask me how i know
You get best results with a scrubbing brush and some elbow grease, when using a spray on degreaser.
when I said O sprayed it on i meant I bought 5 litrs of degreaser and put it into a pump pack and sprayed it on
I'm sure i remember degreaser being stonger than this when I was a kid helping dad:thumb
I spray it on the scrub with a stiff paint brush then have a high powered hose to try and move it but it seems to take many goes to remove it all

I agree with sleepe3, kerosine is cheap and a good cleaning agent. Its flashpoint makes it suitable for electric cleaning tubs.
I also agree, kero. Not as volatile as petrol
I'm interested in this one wanting to clean engine up.
Any do's or don't's about using a hose after using kero or other degreaser?
Anything else you need to be careful of?
Kero seems a very handy thing to have around
if youre degreasing the engine in the car probably a good idea to cover up the distributor with glad wrap maybe to stop water getting in as it wont start if the points get wet :thumb
Thanks for that, I was wondering about getting water on some parts
Marcel
Yeah i usually use KERO, and the new degreaser are probally diluted to reduce effcts on people skin and helth etc
Jen i suggest that you wear old cloths and a pair of safty glasses n gloves as well. The degreaser can give you dermo if yr not use to it.:P
Ta, I have all those so will wear them.
I want to get Bel's old engine looking sweet
