Covid got me good... Another basket case landed in my hands..
Purchased this one in May '20, been sitting out front of Leons since and now its down at Brad's Concept Coach Works for some much needed chemo!
Strip down commenced last week, rat shit, cobwebs and dust removal.. Unearthing the cancer!
Floorpan split and off blasted before welding in new floorpans thanks to Das Resto Parts!
Plan is to sort all the rust, install a ragtop similar to the pics, slap on the AirEvo boots pilfered from my Karmann, lower with Fresh Kustoms drop plates, narrow and adjust the front beam, throw in some plugs & oil, jif up the saltnpepa interior & drive.
Reminds me of my first car a 65 Wagon
same trim was a nice car to drive
I fitted a set of Twin carbies of a 1600 engine and a set of Sonic extractors
I see yours still has the single carby
Going to be a BIG project
Few more in progress pics
You are certainly not afraid of a challenge. Great to see another VW being rescued.
Cheers
Floorpans in... plenty of work done already
The replacement pans needed to be fettled to make them work. Every corner needed work
Some of the cancer being removed. Braced and ready for mating the pan back to the body
Replacement steel sections in progress
Looking so good
big project great to see progress
Plenty of fresh steel welded in, progress is rapid!
Tricky hand formed S sections took hours to fabricate
Scored this Skinned Knuckles 4 inch narrowed beam from a fellow Type 3 enthusiast
how does the beam fit into the bulkhead have you got spacers
Quote: |
I meant spacers for the beam as bulk head is over round if u get my meaning but good if it fits in
Love your dedication.
Hey! Hey!
Mould is the ultimate accessory for European Rats!
