Snow Trip
tar76 - August 19th, 2013 at 03:07 PM

Last week we drove from Sydney to Perisher and along the way before Jindabyne I came across a heap of cars off the main rd tucked up in the bush. Due to being on a tight schedule I couldn't stop and the could only make out that it had a fair amount of car bodies. Not sure what type , but there was plenty. I going to try Google maps and have a look. anyone know of this or have checked it out?

Where in particular? I drive from syd - thredbo every second weekend, have done for 3 years (during winter) and don't know that I've noticed it. Driven along Jindabyne Rd for 15 years (Cooma-Jindy).

Now I'm curious, it's not like I haven't kept my eyes open, though sometimes it feels like I've driven the whole trip while sleeping.

Still trying to find it on Google earth. I remember passing a grass air strip on the right going to Cooma, think it was after that?

Was the grass on fire, and do you inhale the smoke

Bunyan Airfield, I'm guessing? (I've only seen model aircraft flown there).

1km before Cooma (Goulbourn side) there are some car yards between the average-speed-cam and Polo Flat rd. Could be the area?

I've never noticed vw's there but haven't looked hard. Only remembered to keep my eyes open after passing Cooma this week. Normally I'm preoccupied getting my maccas fix (snow-syd run). Also it's in a 100km zone but because of industrial area trucks entering and traffic often diverts attention.
