Question I'm buying a 63 model beetle are seat belts a requirement in the rear seat I know the front must have them but the rear I'm not sure for N.S.W as it will need a blue slip coming from tasse

No they are not required. I think that belts (front also) are only required after '65.

Seat belts mandatory for cars manufactured or imported from 1966. But if never fitted = not required. If fitted then must be in sound condition. My2c

Rears were not required for your car
ADR 4. Rear seatbelts required after 1st Jan 1971
