If we're talking VW 4 cylinder then the figures I have are:

90mm stroke x 101.6mm P&C = 2919cc

I think ya might need one of them aluminium cases for it though!

Black_math - October 18th, 2003 at 04:24 PM

good good thanks for the specs:D

Pauter sell 3.5 litre big blocks for the VolksWagen Drag Racing championship.
BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIG bucks tho! But they're getting 750HP+ out of them on alcohol with NOS and turbo.

:bounce

Cam - October 22nd, 2003 at 08:38 AM

hahaha, I think it would be leaving LITTLE TINY GRAINS of left over rice ;)
But thats a mad idea. A ratty old split window. Tubbed, with a full RLR style pro turbo chassis underneath. SCHWEEEEET!!!!! :D
DAMMIT Skewy, you're giving me ideas now :P

Of course you realise the more CCs you try to get the MORE expense you have to lay out for the pleasure.

Theres an old saying

" Theres no substutitute for Cubes n bumps."

To be on the safe side i wouldnt be going over 2100 with a stock type 1 case, and expecing realibility.

Black_math - October 22nd, 2003 at 09:31 PM

Im not going witah a beetle case, this is for my golf atm im also considering a rotary, but appaerntly there expensive:(

MickH - October 22nd, 2003 at 09:32 PM

Amen to that Dave. There is no way to go fast cheap! No way at all. People talk about alternatives, but I've been down that route and it is never silver linings because you end up getting into a field you are'nt familiar with. And often the results are'nt as expected. I'm definately a purist, but a converted purist.... If that makes sense:o LOL

vw54 - October 23rd, 2003 at 08:31 PM

have not explored the alternate field i know theres heaps of power out there ,,,, BUT... nuthing like a VW stamp

Anthiron - October 23rd, 2003 at 09:51 PM

rotarys are readily available get an old mazda cappella or rx3 rotary or something the only problemo is getting someone who can work on them...

Black_math - October 23rd, 2003 at 09:55 PM

New ones need very little work, im deciding what to do, hmm thinking thinking thinking hard.

Cam - October 23rd, 2003 at 10:51 PM

Definately, Dave, definately. :thumb

Keep it in the breed I say, plus it's more satisfying having a quick VW and opening to decklid to astound people that it is actually powered by an aircooled flat 4 still.

SKEWtYpe3 - October 24th, 2003 at 12:38 AM

once your cc's go up then u gotta have extra oil cooling, better clutch, brakes coming into view - will they stop u, pterol pump, balancing fan, gearbox updating like welding and recoing

it all ads up very quick !
:cry

Take steve1302 and vw59s cars there got heaps of power and do blow the others away.

TheGermanFolks - October 24th, 2003 at 09:28 AM

the biggest you can go on a stock VW case, is 90x94, wich is 2500cc's although not many people use this set up, maybe because is a $1300 USD crank

Black_math - October 24th, 2003 at 04:38 PM

Im willing to spend the money on it:thumb

11CAB - October 24th, 2003 at 05:39 PM

Well if you want the most cc's we used to have an old crane at an engineering shop I used to work at and it was a thumping 12L 4 cyl........all 600revs of it....so big cubes isnt always the way to go....:D

rhrnldi - February 8th, 2004 at 04:16 PM

I have a big engine being built 2.6L Scat/Autocraft components. Planning a T04 with Autronic. .....all sounds good but the scary bit is the price more than 20K and not finished yet. think twice before you start... i am to deep to stop now.
