i was at the wreckers yesturday getting a back seat that will fit (mine had wrong mounts) and i found 2 foot plate things in one of the other beetles
they had, one sits around the pedals and the other is the matching for the other side.
Which beetles did these come out of ?
Are they from a super bug ?
sorry but the plates were gone from the car and i dont know how to tell one year from the other.
Any thoughts
Danielle
Well, my bug (1970, 1500) has them.
I've got them in my 73 Super also. I don't know what particular models they are in for sure though, I had a 72 Super for a very short time which didn't have them, maybe they were just lost?
hmm, i wonder if any early beetles have them.
did is yoursa a super bug ?
My 68AutoBug has them on both sides, I know supers have them.. very early Beetles didn"t have them... I am not sure when they came in..
The left hand one is a Foot rest, not sure what the RH one would be called.... I think 64 beetles had them both sides!!

thanks for your replys everyone. i grabbed them and i got them for free so if they fit my baby then great if not, i havent lost anything.
Danielle
They May be all the same... If the early beetles didn't have them and the pedals haven't changed since around 1964...
They should fit... Well, the Left Hand one should fit anyway...
All cars that were fitted with these plates would have had a slot where the top of these fit....

i have a 71 super and i dont have them:alien
72 super and i have them. never could figure out what they did tho. so i just left them there.
my 72 super S had them, as did my '68 baja. They are always loose and rattle and get caught in the pedals. I generally throw them away...>LOL
My '69er had them!My '73er has them!My '76er doesn't!My '85 caravelle has them built in!My T4 Caravelle has them built in!My Barbie Concept,mmm,I'm not quite sure!
my 64 had a passenger's one... my 54 aint got one...
Apart from a bent piece of metal at the top that fits into a slot in the body, nothing holds them in place... Usually the metal tab has some PVC tape
around it to stop the rattle... and people don't like drilling a hole in their chassis to screw them to the floor. The early cars had one on the
passenger side only, as there was a grease nipple on the pedal shaft assembly, and it would have been hard to grease the pedals with one of those in
place... Usually the bent tab, needs to be re-bent so it fits neatly in the slot... after it has been covered with PVC tape of course.....
