Do I need to pull the trailing arm right out to lower IRS type3
Stanley - March 27th, 2004 at 12:35 PM

I have all the brakes and backing plates off my Notch so I thought I might lower it at the same time.
In doing this I have a few questions.

1. Do I need to pull the trailing arm right out to alter the torsion bars.

2. If so what size is the allen key needed for the inboard attachment point.

3. Car is at std ride height. So I don't have to do this again how many splines to drop it to a nice level maybe 3inches+

Thanks

Well i'm ready to pull the trailing arm off. only the allen head bolt to go but I havn't got an allen key big enough. Try and find one tomorrow.

How does the twin sprin plate come apart.

Not unless it doubles as a 17mm allen key.....:P

If your talking about the 17mm allen key bolt in near the centre of the car you dont need to undo it.......just undo the bolts on the springplate and lift it up and get something to hold it up out of the way of the springplates.

Thanks 11cab but i've just worked that out. Just needed to be a bit brutal
Seemed there was a lot of preload on the spring plates but their loose now.
