Fabricating a new lock mech
Dannyboy - June 29th, 2004 at 09:54 PM

I'm running standoffs and also want to prop the bottom open also. However i wish to use the standard T handle and lock mech. I know i could just put a quick release on it but i want it to still look standard.
Looking at it i can do it 2 ways. On the engine side of the lock there is a hook that fits into the bodypanel. I'm thinking i could either make a bracket for the body to space out and create a new mount for the hook part of the lock , or. Make a new hook ( L shaped) part of the lock by lengthening the distance it sits away from the bodywork. Make sense?

Any ideas , anyone done it ?

Ta Dan :)

you can buy a T bar lock like they have on fiberglass ute trays .

I sell them I think there around $55.00 + gst .

I can get you a photo in the next few days seagull

The locks fine seagull , just needs a longer arm that hooks onto the bodywork. Don't want to drill or alter bodywork. Think thats going to be the way to go , just got to work out how to make one LOL!
