5 SPEED into 77 DC
porsche dc - January 16th, 2018 at 07:36 AM

Hi all I am looking at swapping out the old VW 4 speed and have seen posts of Subaru conversions.. so is there a certain Subaru 5 speed I should use and what clutch, shifter, drive shafts would suit or ultimately is there a kit available. I am currently running a Porsche 3.2 engine with 4 speed box with Albins gears and Porsche clutch cheers..

just need to see you have enough revs for air cooling on the fan end in top gear!

I think the 3.2 motor would have used a pretty tall final drive, so the best thing to do would be to find what ratios were used in the factory 3.2 transmission and then order a Subaru trans with ratios close to it

When I was considering replacing my G50 with a Subaru 5 speed I did these calculations, you might need to alter the tyre size to suit your size but you get the idea. I broke my G50 when I crashed my car a few years ago, all fixed now.
