Is the EA81 and th EA82 conversion, adaptor plate the same!!!

NO, as far as i know they are completely different engines. the 81 is basically the same engine as the 71 with a different stroke, the 82 came later, same capacity as the 81 but as far as i know a rather different engine. i know for certain that fitting it is different, different engine mounts etc, so i presume that the adaptor plate may also be different.

the EA82 engine came in with the more modern and squarer shape in the L series subarus it is a very different engine from an EA81 and having driven both i would say that the EA82 is superior.......my subaru leone turbo has an 82.......if i was doing a conversion i would be using an EA82T ....as for mod plates i would suggest that no they arent the same

You must remeber that these engines are getting VERY long in the tooth......They are nearly 20 years old for pete's sake! B4 you commit to this conversion, maybe look into a newer model such as the EJ20/22/25. Cheap, plentiful, more power and much better technology. There are loads of Brumby & Leone owners here in Perth that are stickin' EJ20T in the front, Cheaper than a rebuild so they tell me!
