How to access timing marks - Subie conversion
The Bigfella - November 13th, 2007 at 11:23 AM

Can't find anything in the archives....

I've got a Subaru EA82 Turbo going into my 54 Oval. I've transferred the Subie timing marks onto the Sherman flywheel - but when the engine goes in to the VW gearbox, you can't really see them.

How is this normally handled? I can think of two options - neither of which seems brilliant.

1. Transfer the marks to the crankshaft pulley at the rear of the car (hard to get accurate?)

2. Drill a hole in the gearbox housing? Don't like that thought either - but is this how people do it?

Guys?
