G'day

my son just bought a VW buggy and which needs a good tune up but my local (country)parts store doesn't have any listings for 1200 parts I was after points ,dizzy cap , rotor arm etc. Also what condenser to use It has had a 12V conversion.

I'd be gratefull if someone could help me out so I could get some ordered in

thanks

Frank

Unfortunately there were a lot of possible distributors fitted to the 1200 engine . Perhaps you could post a couple of pictures of the distributor and points, the most common distributor I would say was the big bosch dizzy.Nearly all of VW's distributors could be fitted to any motor, with a picture we can narrow it down in the Bosch catalogue. Cheers les

Hi, if the distributor has a vacuum advance canister on the side of the body it will most probably run GB 529 points if it doesnt then GB 534 will do the trick. Condensor will be GB 808. All bosch part numbers. Dizzy cap and rotor button im not sure about but will check parts in the workshop tomorrow...
