Has anyone tried this?

Just wondering if anyone has tried raising a baja by fabricating a bracket to mount from the axle end of the spring plate onto the axle. As I see it this would give a lift without upsetting the camber on the wheels for a swing axle. Could also allow for further travel and longer shocks assuming the z bar (at least I think it is the z bar)attachment is lengthened.

Are you trying to move the axle back, like a lengthed swingarm on an IRS car?

A swingers negative camber depends on the axles length and how far the centerline of the wheel is below the centerline of the diff in the gearbox. There is no cheating the system, a raised swinger will always have positive camber.

It was an idea that was given to me by someone else who used the idea to lower a car. It would lift the rear without rotating the torsion bar. I thnik it needs more thought on my part.

It's the axle pivoting off the gearbox that gives the camber, not the position of the spring plate / torsion bar. The only way to have a raised swinger with no camber issues is to run reduction boxes, but they have a whole bunch of problems of their own.

if your thinking of making the spring plate longer it also means you need to move the gearbox back to maintain correct toe in on rear wheels if you move the gear box you must move the engine ETC ETC ETC

as i have found, people have been coming up with ideas on bugs for the last 50 plus years if you think of something and it has not been done then its not worth doing.
