59 ragtop rat 2 years in the making (pics)
silverbullet - August 20th, 2008 at 07:57 AM

Here are some pics of my 59 ragtop which has been being built for the last 2 years by scott (another vw nut) in his spare time and when parts were available. Very happy with the end result. I bought the car about 5 years ago after sitting for aroud 20 years in a shed, so still very solid. All suspension has been powdercoated and all the bolts and bits and pieces have been plated. adustable front beam with drop spindle and lowered 2 splines in the back with adjustable spring plates. Silver brm's and of course the list could go on.

Just waiting on the sign writting to go on as im using this car for my waork car my bakery at bicheno. will see som 50's style graphics will post more pics when done.

Just need a few small bits to finish off steering wheel ie banjo or similar, front rubber mat, inner sunroof lining and maybe a pair of albert swans. if anyone can help with these bits just drop me a pm .

of course some thing always has to go wrong as i got it to transport inspection the gearbox shaft seal perished afeter sitting so long i suppose. so as soon as i got it home drop the motor out and back in. $9 seal and all fixed. here's a handy tip alway replace the seal before bolting up the motor after sitting for around 20 years.

Thats awesome! Are you going to run with the hella side signals or semaphores???

i do have the semaphores for it but i think that i might leave the elephant ears on for a while. At least some people see them flashing. They are suprisingly bright at night.
