Newcastle King Edward Park Hillclimb 4th & 5th Oct. LAST EVER. Vids added!
bat69 - September 25th, 2015 at 07:44 PM

As the title says: The very last hillclimb ever to be run at King Edward Park Newcastle will be runover Sunday 4th and Monday 5th October 2015.

Sundays event is Round 10 & the final round of the NSW Hillclimb Championship

Monday is the final round of Tri Club Championship btwn Tamworth SCC, Kempsey SCC and MGCC.

There is a full field of 70 cars for each day so its going to be a full day of action.

Due to the Council putting a walkway up the middle of the road way, this event will not run anymore after nearly 60 years, so if you want to experince a bit of motorsport history come in and have a look at one of the best spectator hillclimbs this state (Country) has to offer.

Myself and GT are entered in our Beetles for Sunday. There are a couple of vees entered as well.

If you do come for a look, come up to the pits and say hello. Im the one in the bright green bug and Gt is the yellow one.

Hope to see you there.

What a shame to lose such a spectacular venue. I have been several times & loved it, but I am going to Warwick this year.

Good luck and enjoy it.

In my opiniom this is one of the best hillclimbs in the championship and prob the best place I have driven and raced at. Not because the roads of good quality, far from it. But because its got a bit of it for everyone. MG car club run a fantastic event. Great view and the park are second to none, play facilities for the kids, car show and display, good food and best of all, some fantastic motorsport action with some of the best drivers and machinery this State and Country have to offer. Plus, when the actions all finished, walk a couple 100 mtrs down the road and play at the beach, have a cold beer at the pub or walk a couple 100 mtrs up the hill to the new 'walkway' over looking the ocean and watch the whales.. Or just sit in the park and watch the whales as you watch the cars! '

Thanks. I think it sounds pretty angry too..

The vid above was put together by a professional crew for the local paper for the last event ever at KEP. GT and I both get a cameo appearance as to does 'Old Tom' in his Super bug and Steve Butcher and Phil Stazack in the FVees. GTs car is seen at the start line and hair pin, 'Old Tom' in his super is seen coming into the hairpin and mine from an over head drone at distance coming round the 1st corner into the straight and around the last bend over the finish. There is also the Stinger Vees of Steve and Phill. Enjoy.
