hi , i had that crank in a similar motor, a bit more hypo tho. the dowels in the crank are smaller than most similar cranks and mine twisted out in a short time. i had it drilled for wider deeper dowells and it was fine from then on. were u recommended to drill the dowels before u started

turboboy - May 15th, 2013 at 03:43 PM

Howdy
Yes Berg recomended it , they are only deeper ( longer) not wider
It all so has Raceware studs and Berg straight cut gears

very nice, is it goin in a fiberglass buggy

ian.mezz - May 15th, 2013 at 06:36 PM

we have a similar motor in our car.
there is going to be a lot of Holley Turbo bugs on the track soon.
Here is ours

I hope so! My new combo is pretty similar but with a turbo grind 120, scat flanged crank, 94mm bore, same heads bigger valves, bigger turbo, bigger holley and more comp! Although it is strictly a race motor! Should be a ripper motor for a buggy! Talk about loose!

hellbugged - May 15th, 2013 at 07:24 PM

Looking good

... Don't look like berg rockers tho

turboboy - May 15th, 2013 at 08:16 PM

Yep glass body , Taipan
Your right with the rockers, well spotted . Yes they are EMPI's ,my mistake sorry

meisterberginteriors - May 15th, 2013 at 10:24 PM

Im not sure Berg liked 1.25 rockers, check it out:

Nice build should be fun in a light buggy, 1.25:1 with W120 is ok, just run it.

turboboy - May 15th, 2013 at 11:38 PM

Dave Kawell said it's close to a FK 45 which he uses on some motors , that with the 1.25's with the 120.
So that's where I got the combo
So that's cool we'll see how it goes
So many choices, so many combo's

fish26 - May 16th, 2013 at 01:42 PM

Dave Kawell also had input towards us using FK43 with either 1.25 or 1.4 in the turbo motor.

I'm looking forward to having a race against you next season Richard.... Given your weight advantage, it might be a fun chase!

dragvw2180 - May 17th, 2013 at 01:10 AM

JMHO , If I am going to buy a cam for my engine and a set of rockers I would rather buy one ground for the ratio I am going to run. Will your combination work , absolutely but I worry about excessive strain/ wear on the componants. I have done it in the past when I already had the engine assembled and wanted to try just a little more lift . Dave Kawell is someone I believe in , has given me nothing but excellent advice. Your engine looks great and I bet will be alot of fun, Mike McCarthy

Have had some more bits arrive. Thanks Rod P
See pic.
Talked to Lummus on Thursday, he has started but going slow. Have changed a couple of things.
Intake plenum is now an upside down D shape ( flat on bottom) the reason is to help fuel stay in suspension just like the tee on the in take manifold.
The carbie is now an alloy body Holley Street Avenger 670cfm not the 600 we originally planed to use.
will have to wait until it's all here to work out throtle pedal, cable etc

Loving the toys.... That FPR looks very familiar... Looking forward to seeing the plumbing from Ron.

turboboy - October 3rd, 2013 at 06:59 PM

Car is still rego'd
Have to put new disc's and drums on and pads. 5x130
Shim the front end
Have to work out throtle cable when motor is in.
Oil lines
a bit of wiring
the box will come soon, just want to get it going, so no beating up on it for a little bit.
