Full Throttle Friday
RodPenrose - December 19th, 2013 at 07:43 PM

I have prepped the car with some more new components for a run tomorrow @ Full Throttle Friday . This is basically a test day for all ANDRA race cars from 6.00 pm until 10.00 pm . The gates will open from 4.30 pm and I believe Dave Stoker and Mike Waldron will be there after their last meeting was a washout , ROD.

All the best Rodney?

Hi guy's , just a quick note to inform you that I will not make it to the track tonight due to the heat . I have confirmed with Ryan who is out near the venue that the soles of your shoes will melt on the tarmac . Dave Stoker and Mike Waldron will still brave the elements so I wish them all the best in the heat . I will run my car again on the 17 th of Jan at the Full Throttle Friday meeting alongside the Vintage VW crew , ROD.

That would be like racing in Qld, too damn hot

mike and myself braved the heat (42c), absolute torture but got 2 runs in before the RAIN stopped the event at 9.30!!!!!!!
both runs were 9.67 &145.4mph, the traction was not the best even though we dropped the tyre pressure to 14psi and it carried the front all the way through 2nd
the only bummer was we had an oil leak in the rocker cover which has never happened before but i am pulling the motor out to check mains @bigends so will adress that problem, anyway its a fucking vw for gods sake and its supposed to leak (well, thats my excuse )

Good stuff lads!
Dave no need to worry about excuses, when you get to a certain age leakage is just one of many problems.
See you in February!

mike64 - December 21st, 2013 at 11:15 AM

:lol::lol: wish you were closer just to get the full effect from that last comment.

Yer we had a couple of oil leaks, but so did 11 other cars, one racer left a rag on his headers n set fire to the engine bay while waiting for his towcar. :tu:

Over the years I've waited in staging lanes or in the burnout pad because of a oil down from someone else, the idea of a test n tune is to sort out problems, this is a new one to us I'm sure we can overcome this one, just happy as the car is becoming more constant.

Better out than in, so they say - the older you get, the less you care

By the way, Congratulations, Dave and Mike, excellent performance considering the conditions - H
