Let me know there's a quicker 1200-1300cc Beetle out there.

Very nice, we did drag Guy Hardings 1300cc Targa car back in the 90's. The car is still around and unfortunately I can't remember the times it ran, I'm thinking in the 16's. I'll try and get the info

This engine revs so nice Ian....wonder what it would do with the right gearbox....

Next year i'm not racing as i'm rebuilding the car in order to shed another 50kg and its tempting to take it to the drags and lower the record before I start adding all the heavy bits back on (rollcage, fire bottles, wiper motor, oil coolers, cooling fan, alternator)

This would be a good time to slip a spare box in and see if I can get a low 14 or even a high 13 (years ago, removing the fanbelt from my old street Beetle gave me 0.7 seconds)

My best 60ft with this Touring Car was a 2.16 but my old 13.7 second street Beetle managed a 1.93 with a stock first gear and standard 165mm rear tyres (no burnout just a dry hop to clean the tyres) so that 0.23 seconds I'm currently losing would get me down to a 14.8
