Hi There,
I am wanting to know what is the quickest street registered type 3 down the 1/4mile in Australia. Both for speed and time.
Go to have goals. I want to know what I need to aim for.
Cheers,
James C.

Looks nice Andy.
Steering Wheel is on the wrong side, and I doubt it would make it through the pits though.
Any idea what times/speed they got out of it?
its off thesamba.com find the pic there and send a message to the owner, maybe thay can give you some info, looks ace though!! c u

Quickest type 3......
I reckon it might be you.........
Theres an EJ20T powered one in perth that runs mid 13's.....
If its a stocker then the time will be around 19 or 20 seconds they weight a ton ...
But hey Go for it. Where are you at,
Didn't that purple notch compete for the Berg Trophy a few years back?
Must be "street legal"!
The CE notch ran 9.43 @143.44mph
2003 class record holder!
not quite a streeter though...
if I was placing bets, I would put the farm on you too James. :thumb

wasn't there a 2332cc powered fastback in Vic that done a 14.3 second 1/4 a few months back at a street meet??
Anyone have any details???
Jak
Nah, not yet. Still working towards that.
I have a review from the origional Wheels article from 1966. The fastback was a quick 24.5 sec down the 1/4 mile.
14.9 is my quickest to date. Though am working to bring that down.
I had heard of a turbo- kombi powered type III in NSW that was doing mid 13's. Is it still going? Anyone know the times/speeds from it?

Neil Penboss had this one a few years ago: http://www.vwdcqinc.org.au/vwdcqimages/memberscars/originalfiles/wolfsbug.jpg
Now he runs a beetle:

He used to run 11s in the T3. I think the Bug does 10s. not sure though.
