I would like to see CBB and Dave Butler run side by side!!!!!
Can you just imagine 2 Bugs, 4 SUPERCHARGERS, 8 Exhausts, 2 9sec passes, but what a symphony!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good luck Mike. I hope you kick some butt. It would be good to see some pictures of Cranky One in the rev-head magazines and not just Rod Pernrose's weapon.

I can't make it to watch but I'll keep and ear out for it....... from Bondi.

Turbo's may be flavour of the month but nothing
sounds fatter than a blown VW struggling to idle

But I still love Penrose's car and can't wait for the jamboree

does anyone know the best time for Cranky one?

OvalGlen - May 28th, 2004 at 10:36 PM

Matt are you allowed to mention that the engine size is now
............
or is that to be a pleasant surprise for those that get there.?
I cant be there this Sat and I am " Spewing ".

Even with the 1916 cc Mike found that it was lifting the front
(well feeling light in the steering ) at the end of the Quarter.
He said Very un nerving.

The twin superchargers are now sitting on a 2.1 block.
Wasser boxer case with water jackets machined off.

Best to date is low 10s @ over 130mph.

I love getting others to devolge the info,
so I can add that the Twin blowers on the 1916 Gave Too Much boost. Rather than spend lots on pulley sizing,
and his next Phase was to go to the Bigger Motor anyway,
he just accelerated his development and
built the bigger one,
Now who wants to guess the boost from two 43 Cu Inch
blowers on a 2.1 L .
Ive got no idea but will make wild guess at 19 Lbs.
What do you reckon Matt?

Doug Sweetman - May 29th, 2004 at 09:10 AM

All depends on drive ratio, doesnt it ?

I think its fantastic to see an oxyboxer / Type 5 in racing, in Australia !

OvalGlen - June 2nd, 2004 at 09:54 PM

Sob , Sob , to think that I missed Mikes first " under 10 sec run"
then he went on to run 9.6 sec .
I believe that makes his 2nd fastest VW in Aust.
Just wait till he stops the clutch from slipping.!
(that was the 3 puck ceramic, next will need the double diaphram.)
