tassy74ida; can you tell us a bit about your car and what you have done to it?

What sort of speed are you looking to get out of it in quarter mile time and in top speed?

I don't really know anything about this sort of stuff but do find it quite interesting,

thanks

tassy74ida - October 16th, 2009 at 05:58 PM

handycam tell us a bit about your manx??

desh I bought the car around 8 years ago for the hefty price of $800 and that was with 12 months rego!! ha ha I then like most people on this site got bitten by the bug so to speak!! Car mods well I just say the basics, 48 idas, jacobs ignition system, merged racing headers and fat boy muffler, gearbox was assembled by dave butler and ratios are set up for 1/4 mile only!! just put a new front beam narrowed 2" and 2 1/2" drop spindles, new ball joints, tie rods etc.... lots more stuff but nothing left of field..

utter buggery - October 22nd, 2009 at 06:30 PM

sounds good, should see it there on the 14th then

tassy74ida - November 13th, 2009 at 08:32 PM

yay good news just got back from the track!!! I run a pb tonight 13.56@95mph and made it to the second elimination round of super street!! Found out some interesting info tonight also dave!! Im crossing the line at wait for it 8400 rpm I really need 28" tyres before next meet cause i can feel it loose power at the end of the track. and slight valve bounce : ( all in all very happy and lots of room for improvment! oh yeah 1.7 sisxty footers also..

tassy74ida - November 15th, 2009 at 07:21 PM

GOOD WORK ANDREW!!
I think your tach may be playing up.
Even with a 26" tyre,
95mph with your gearing should be around 6750rpm.

Get some slicks on that sucker!

handycam - November 17th, 2009 at 09:19 PM

i hope to make it out soon for a look i had a dam birthday on, anyway good stuff good vid .many at meet with the track under new managers????

The joint was packed, more people there than I have seen in the last couple of years, except TassieNats. Heaps of cars, heaps of people. One would say it was extremely successful.

tassy74ida - December 4th, 2009 at 07:57 PM

Hey quick update, New M/T 28x9 slicks arrived today. Was in the process of showing my engine some love before the next meet and had a spark plug slash burnt helicoil looking thing come out of the head together>> : ( No probs engine out and will fix the problem over the weekend. Um mesured the stroke and it is a 86mm crank which was a bit of a shock. hear are a few pics of the inlet ports, any feed back would be appreciated. Not to sure what type of port etc they are. Will post some footage of the maden voyage with the slicks on next weekend... : )

dangerous - December 5th, 2009 at 05:11 AM

Man, wait to see how fast you go with some bigger ports!

The inlet flange dowel hole,
and closed boss on the top corner of the casting under the head-nut
says they are most likely early 1970s 113 heads as a base.

bit hard to measure the stroke thru the plug hole,
but when you take off the heads to upgrade them (hehe),
you can check it then.

look forward to slicks results!

tassy74ida - December 6th, 2009 at 12:27 AM

Got some wiring done today for the line lock and started to play round with the clutch dampner.
Has anybody been using or has used this setup at all?
