RetroSound Radio's

Im looking at getting a RetroSound radio like the one shown in the link for a project im working on. Im want to keep a fairly original look and not have to cut the dash. Plus i never use cd's and always listen to the radio or i would plug my iphone into the player and play playlists off that.

Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with these?

Are they worth the price what they are charging? cause to me it doesnt look lyk a very complicated unit, just a standard radio..

Is there anything similar to this product to keep an original look?

Or is it better to just find an old vw radio? seeing as i only use radio, but i would assume that to get one in decent quality and working condition would be quite expensive and hard to come by.

They don't look all that retro really. Apart from the two dials they look pretty modern. Haven't had any experience with them sorry. The majority of retro looking old car radios are AM only. You can have the innards changed to give you FM and iPod compatability while keeping the facia. What vintage is the project?

What's the budget? Go to IN2VWS.com.au and see if you can find the correct radios for the period. You'll pay $100 for something prob not working but looking the part. They sound terrible anyway. Put it in the dash for looks and get a nice compact iPod compatible unit with a remote, to stick in the glovebox or under the seat. Maybe $200-$300 all up.

Yea I'm thinking that that's the way to go, keeping it looking original but with hidden upgrades and better functionality.
Do they go alright under the seat? I couldn't imagine them getting knocked or bumped cause the seats so low
