show us your gauges
Fishynos72 - May 6th, 2010 at 06:12 PM

Whether you have them to keep an eye on your stock motor or to make sure your custom power house keeps cool. give us a look and a bit on info on how you did it :D

STIDUB - May 6th, 2010 at 10:11 PM

dash...

not quite done but should be all visable with a 350mm steering wheel, probably more work than you are looking for though...

fuel gauge going on the lower 1/2 of the RHS of the 2nd pic, the rest will be on a screen/in glovebox/under dash etc at this stage :)

3rd pic is similar style, its SIDES car on here(hope ya dont mind me posting)

Fishynos72 - May 6th, 2010 at 10:34 PM

Nice  the gauges alone would have cost enough let alone all the time you put in. with all of that working you'd know everything about your engine, do need all that information?

cam070 - May 6th, 2010 at 11:31 PM

Is the dash considered structural? i.e. can you just cut bits out?

1303Steve - May 7th, 2010 at 09:24 AM

Hi

This is what I had in my old 1302, it was nearly all Stewart Warner stuff.

Joel - May 7th, 2010 at 10:45 AM

i had a similar setup in my black bug

and my Lbug currently has this layout for a few more weeks, new setup is currently under construction

STIDUB - May 7th, 2010 at 01:46 PM

benefits of a curved window hey joel, ugly dash but lots more room :tu:

Joel - May 7th, 2010 at 06:54 PM

That's true, but I'm actually going the other way and minimalising what's there

I replacing nearly all my gauges with a digital cluster thats got speedo, tacho, fuel gauge, temp gauge, warning lights etc all in one unit

im sick of having old inaccurate analog fuel gauge and speedo, and no trip meter/accurate odometer is pissing me off too

Fishynos72 - May 7th, 2010 at 07:29 PM

how can you have so many gauges and be able to keep your eyes on the road aswell

Joel - May 7th, 2010 at 08:22 PM

ha, i also used to have Boost and AFR gauges too

my new one will be much simpler with just oil press and water temp at the bottom and rest will be in the digital dash cluster

Yah, no probs - all good dude.

There's actually a few that you can't see in that pic... 2 head temp gauges, the AFR box plus of course the TerraTrip on the Nav's side. Haven't quite figured a place for the EGT gauge yet...

Heh heh - you don't - instead just have the important ones sitting on edge of sight line. For my case (race car) that's the Christmas Tree just above wheel, the 4 temp gauges in the cluster to the left, and the big red oil pressure light that can light the whole cabin up.

:tu:

Fishynos72 - May 7th, 2010 at 08:47 PM

hmm so many gauges so little time, i just have stock dash with a spedo and a tacho with built in shift light

DubCrazy - May 7th, 2010 at 08:52 PM

beetleboyjeff - May 8th, 2010 at 04:05 PM

Hey Dylan, where has the car been dropped too? Your Dads?

DylanTheDubber - May 8th, 2010 at 08:49 PM

Jeff , Yes it's at Dads , Mum thinks its too much of a bomb to be on the front lawn at her place so for now its in the car port at dads. Im not sure if you have seen it before but it was at howies farm , the dark blue 72 superbug. Im bringing it back from the dead for a new life. Im currently looking for a motor for it and am fixing the rust.

Fishynos72 - May 12th, 2010 at 08:11 AM

Hey Dylan just saw your new bugselecta looks great

Camo - May 12th, 2010 at 09:57 AM

This is something how mine will look when finished and of course matching Autometer speedo in the middle, with the backing plates to be painted the same colour as the car.
