Known to not do the normal, after having driven my Type 3 over to Melbourne, I sold her for a pretty penny and bought myself an 03 GTI.

First thing I did was blow up the gearbox doing burnouts. Loving life. Fixed relatively easily, always nice to be able to pick up parts quite cheap. Upgraded to a Stage 2 clutch and single mass flywheel at the same time.

Then slammed her on some coilovers and some Ferrari wheels.

Did a few interior upgrades, such as R32 rear leather seats and R32 illuminated dash vents.

Got centre caps for the Ferrari wheels.

Then I drove home one night from a mates place stoned and may have smashed my oil pan quite good. That was a fun experience. Ended up purchasing a hybrid oil pan (steel and aluminium number) but just JB welded the original oil pan for the time being.

Sold the Ferrari wheels and bought some Audi Q5 POV pack wheels. Drove to Adelaide.

Slammed the front while at Mum's.

Then shit hit the fan. Alternator died, so had to replace it while in Adelaide. All was good, did a sick burnout around the corner from Mum's and actually dislodged the dogbone mount.

So on the way home, the engine was flopping around and I hit a bump. Caused a radiator hose to split and power steering. Luckily I knew what to do in said situation and nursed Lucy 400km home.

All fixed now, new dogbone mount installed, radiator hose fixed and power steering hose replaced. Life is good.

I have since slammed her again and have been driving around like this for the last couple of weeks.

Pretty happy with how she sits currently. Next steps are to raise the engine 20mm (already have engine spacers) and notch the drivers side frame.

Not everyones cup of tea (especially around here, because it is "dangerous" etc) but seriously, some people need to lighten up and have fun.

Figured if Dad is now on here asking questions and posting about Gerty, I might as well stick around and watch what he does.

Welcome back Seb. Glad to see you haven't lost your interest in VWs. I love all the interesting things you do to your cars - not usually my cup of tea, but I love someone who has a go.

Yeah, I don't think I'll be selling the Golf for a while yet. Already had her for almost a year now, pretty much sold on keeping her for a good few years to come.
Easy to drive, economy is great, a tank gets me from my place in Melbourne to Mum's in Adelaide all going well, and I don't think I'll ever tire of the Mk4 shape.

About to start hunting power, now that I have the height and some of the cosmetics sorted (still waiting on rear bumper, side skirts and front grill), I'm happy to spend some more money on the engine.
