Yup, but not many.
Couple of hundred of the Mk3 Ventos and then Mk4 Bora and then new Jetta.

The Vento (based on Golf Mk3) was only sold in Australia from 1993-97 inclusive. It was only available in GL spec. Not very popular; only 397 examples were sold in the whole country in five years. They are very collectable now. Basically the Vento model was run out about the same time that the Polo was first introduced to Australia, so it got all the promotion. No Ventos were sold here in 1998.

In 1999 the Bora (based on the Golf Mk4) was introduced. It was a lot more popular, selling some 5,290 in Australia before it was discontinued in 2005 (although trickle sales continued for two more years). They are still fairly common on the second-hand market.

The current Jetta (based on the Golf Mk5) was introduced in 2005. It has been extremely popular by comparison, selling 10,127 in just four years so far.

I bought one new in 1995. Have done 220,000Km in it.
The electric windows suck, I have trashed 2 gearboxes and now the motor looks stuffed. Gee I do like it still though ... what is wrong with me. They are a very cheap car - easy to find under $5K
I am thinking about a VR6 motor to put in it ... or I may need to wreck it for the money I would get. I don't see the price currently suggesting collectasble though.
