make sure the timing belt has been done and its been fully serviced. the caddy is a great vehicle EXEPT the electrics are all routed thru the main ECU, if you have a fault with the electric windows (for example) the ECU will revert to "limp" mode and although you will get home your max speed will be 40kmh, you will need to get it on a laptop to sort the problem out.

upgrade i can reccomend is get the rear springs swapped for the caddy life springs, they are stronger and softer, so they give a better ride AND will carry more weight.

the TDi will also run on bio diesel (even pure veg oil) without modification, i wouldnt be tempted with LPG as 60mpg on diesel is very easy to achieve (even 65+ mpg isn't hard to obtain)

Donn,

My wife mentioned on the weekend that one of our electricians (a Pommy) is moving back to England for a while while his mum is real crook, and may be selling his Caddy.

I had a yarn to him today, and he is selling it, but probably not untill January or February. It is a 2005 model with a deisel motor and quite a few options. He is a VW lover and has always 'mothered' it , so it is great nick. He hasn't thought about price yet.

Let me know if you want his info or anything.
