MAGNUM PI
rustguard - March 22nd, 2011 at 12:18 AM

Well digital tv has been here for ages, but the faily new 7mate is re-running magnum episodes. Well so what you ask?
TJ; thats the chopper pilot for anyone who remembers the show, drives around in a mint 85/86 T3 (vanagon there).
It has a cracker of a custom paint job similar to the A-Team van.
search U-Tube there is a A-Team T3.
Anyone ever see a magnum pi replica? There must be one in the usa somewhere.
Anyhow watching the show is the only time I am glad I have an earlier round headlight model.

Actually there were several different T3 Kombis (or 'Vanagons' as the Americans call them) used during the Magnum PI series. The show ran for 8 series, between 1980 and 1988.

The earlier series used an air-cooled T3, recognised by having only the one front grille. This one has been made into a Revell plastic model - would be quite collectable now.

In 1984 or so the T3 was updated to the latest watercooled model, which has the second front grille.

And actually nothing like the A-team van at all.

i was offered the Magnum PI van quite a few years ago when i lived in the UK, there were 2 main issues, 1, the motor had thrown a rod, 2 it was still in Hawaii, its along way to drive it with no motor!
